New Sumas Women’s team through to the next round of the FA County Cup
Our U18’s played their first Women’s level game today as they prepare for the launch next season of Wokingham & Emmbrook FC’s first women’s football team. In an enthralling game the Sumas were the better footballing team but the physicallity of the Bracknell side equalled things out and the teams went in goalless at half time.
The second half was a cracking half and clearly showed our players are ready for what ever the next phase of their football development throws at them. The Sumas took a 1-3 lead, yet Bracknell’s tiring side found two long range efforts to pull it back to 3-3. In the final 5 minutes our fitness levels paid off and the 3-4 win was secured with a super curling free kick.
We are going to continue to build the women’s team this season in preparation for next season. The U18’s may continue into a second year at U18 but it is the intention to start to build the women’s team. So if you know anyone that may be interested do get them to reach out and come along on Monday nights (6.30pm at Cantley) to have fun, make friends and keep fit.
